Theater Speakers

Sound card optical out to home theater system plus pc speakers?

If I have a sound card that has 5.1 pc speaker input as well as optical out, can I connect the pc speakers along with connecting the optical out to a home theater system and that way use the home theater speakers along with the pc speakers at the same time?

I don't know which sound card you have, but that should work fine.
