What are the different types of computer monitors available? Also what is a TFT and CRT Monitor?

Also which is better?

"Better" is dependent on things like the kind of work you do on your computer, the amount of money you have to spend and the amount of room you have on your desk.

LCDs (flat panels) can be nice because they don't take up much room and they come in widescreen sizes that appeal to game players and people that watch movies on their computer. Prices have come down (alot) and I recently replaced my old 17" CRT with a nice LCD for a little over $200.

CRTs (glass tube) can be nice because they can run at any resolution the monitor supports and it will be sharp. LCDs are only sharp at one resolution, referred to as the "Native resolution." CRTs can be cheaper than LCDs, although not as much as a few years ago. CRTs still offer the sharpest images and blackest blacks but if you spend enough money an LCD can come close.

Unless you are doing high end graphics work I think LCDs are now the best choice. You have to be careful because LCDs are not all created equal. Check user reviews to make sure you are buying one that will meet your needs.
