Vga Female
Macbook to watch: Cable male or female? Mini DisplayPort to VGA or DVI?
I have a MacBook with a Mini DisplayPort that I occasionally want to use with an external monitor, with VGA and Acer "DVI w / HDCP" (whatever that means) entries. Which should I use the VGA or DVI? And I need a cable male or female? I want to use the external monitor as primary monitor for "docking", not as real estate additional.
Are you sure that you have a miniDisplayPort? Macbooks only black and silver (not the most common all white and all-black) have a miniDisplayPort. If you have a Macbook all white or all black, it has a port MiniDV, which is something completely different. Anyway, if you bought the adapter right (or miniDV miniDisplayPort, depending on your Macbook a) you will also need a standard monitor cable male-male to use this card with a monitor. I would preferably use the DVI.
