Digital Cable

Can you program a digital cable box to switch channels at pre-set times?

I'm talking about a Comcast digital cable converter, not a DTA or a DVR. Can you set a program in a digital cable box so it will change channels at a certain time when the TV is off? I'm aware that only one channel can be recorded on a VCR at any time -- the one the cable box is tuned to. I read something that said you can program your cable box to switch channels, thus enabling the VCR to tape whatever channel you're tuned to. Is this correct?

The way it works on my Dish receiver-box is like this:
Use the channel guide and go to the show you want to record (in the near future), then hit the Select button.
On my box, a menu automatically pops up that asks if you want to set a Timer for that show. It could be a one-time deal, or every day that time/channel, or every week, etc. I usually select "one-time-only". Then I hit OK.

When that time comes, the box automatically switches over to that channel. (Then I can have my DVD recorder set to start recording -- but that is a separate thing.)

There is probably something very similar to the Comcast digital box. If it isn't automatic like my Dish box, then there has to be some kind of Menu item for setting a Timer.
