Best flat screen TV for watching standard channels?

I want to get a new slim, flat screen, but I know I'll still watch some standard cable. I've read that some TVs do not produce standard TV very good. Is there a brand that might be better for this? Also, is it a good idea to go larger than I think since the screen shrinks with standard?

LCDs are probably the best all round for various reasons and there are quite a few good deals in the 720P HD since the 1080P sets are getting more and more popular.
for watching standard definition its best if you stay at about a 42in. or smaller. most DVD players are ED or enhanced definition which will look great on this TV. I have a 47in. 1080P and standard definition is just OK but much, much better on my friends 41in. 720P TV.
I would go ahead and get at least a 720P set with an HD tuner because you can by an antenna to pick up local channels broadcast in HD for $25-$50 and you may want to upgrade your cable to HD after you have had a taste of HD.
I found that brand is not all that important but every Magnavox I saw seemed to have a brighter, sharper picture but the cost difference was unjustified for me. good luck, have fun.
