Is that new Sony bookshelf speakers work with my 6 years old stereo system?

I just ordered Sony SB 1000 bookshelf speakers for my TV-LCD. Before you go out and buy a receiver to connect to, I wondered if they would work with my old stereo system ... it is a child of 8 years Aiwa 3 disk changer system - 120 watts. Can I just unplug the speakers old shit and connect the speakers new library for the Sony? (Instead of spending $ 150 on a new receiver)

I do not see why not. A quick glance at the specifications suggests that they work very well. They are designed to be strong, but should do ok for a small room at moderate levels.
